It’s no surprise, careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) are high paying rewarding careers, and in demand! Improving access to high level skill building opportunities provides the chance for a better quality of life.  Today, more than ever, STEAM disciplines are driving, and changing, the job landscape as these disciplines are responsible for creating solutions to society’s toughest challenges, including climate change, automation, unmanned systems, business productivity & new opportunities, cyber economies, digital arts, medicine, and equality.

CanSTEAM Foundation is established to provide an equitable program to help students plan and prepare for better jobs today, as well as future jobs – some of which do not exist today!

The equality and access are created by student-based team competitions, which encourages STEAM programs and careers through a proven concept of learning while doing.  At our core, we believe robotics competitions, help prepare kids for future jobs.  Our robotics competitions present an engineering challenge to students in the form of a game.  Student teams play against other school, or community-based, teams in an alliance format to work on a complex problem (the game) then design and build a robot to compete on a stage, with their peers, to showcase their own creations and solutions to the game challenge.  We provide a platform that is affordable and accessible, since we provide a standardized robotics kit & components so all students are on a level playing field. There is no limit to where students take their robots so everyone is inspired to compete, collaborate, and learn.

Robotics competitions foster high skills and capitalize on the motivational effects of competitions and robotics to help all students create an identity as a STEAM learner.  The competitions are also a great way to expose students to valuable soft skills like communication, collaboration, and time-management in a fun and authentic way. Team competition prepares students to become future innovators with 95% of participants reporting an increased interest in STEAM subject areas and pursuing STEAM-related careers. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels.
