Eligibility
The VEX IQ and VEX V5 (V5RC) Competition Grant is open exclusively to Ministry of Education-approved institutions in Canada. Applicants must be 18 years or older and serve as the team’s Primary Coach or the district’s designated grant writer. This grant is available to schools located in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, excluding the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. Employees of VEX Robotics, CanSTEAM, their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, and suppliers (collectively referred to as “Employees”), as well as their immediate family members or household members, are ineligible to participate.
Agreement to Rules
By participating, you (“the Contestant”) agree to be fully bound by these Rules and affirm that you meet the eligibility requirements.
Campaign Period
The entry period opens on November 24, 2024, and closes at 11:59 PM (EST) on December 2, 2024. All online submissions must be received within this time frame.
How to Enter
To enter, follow the specified requirements and complete the online entry form provided. All submissions must meet the stated criteria to be considered for a grant. Incomplete entries or those that do not follow the rules may be disqualified at the discretion of CanSTEAM. Fraudulent activity or attempts to circumvent the rules will result in disqualification.
Grant Details
Four (4) VEX IQ (VIQRC) Competition Grants are available, each including a VEX IQ Competition Kit, VEX IQ Competition Field Perimeter & Tiles, and the 2024-25 VEX IQ Full Game & Field Element Kit.
Two (2) VEX V5 (V5RC) Competition Grants are available, each including a V5 Competition Starter Kit, VEX Portable Competition Field Perimeter, and the VEX V5 Competition Full Game & Field Element Kit.
Winners will be eligible to receive one grant based on grade level and program preference (VEX IQ for grades 4-8, V5RC for grades 8-12). Grant recipients must register their team at www.robotevents.com and compete in a VEX Robotics V5RC or VIQRC competition during the 2025-26 season. Grant winners are also required to establish a VEX Robotics program at their school or district.
No cash substitutions or alternative prizes will be offered. By accepting the grant, winners grant CanSTEAM permission to use their name, likeness, and entry for promotional purposes without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
Odds of Winning
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
VEX V5 (V5RC) Grants will be distributed geographically: one grant for Western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia) and one for Eastern Canada. Winners will be selected at random.
VEX IQ (VIQRC) Grants will also be distributed geographically: one grant each for the Pacific (British Columbia), Mountain (Alberta), Central (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario), and Eastern Canada (including Quebec). Winners will be selected at random.
Winner Selection and Notification
Grant winners will be selected by a committee under the supervision of CanSTEAM and VEX Robotics Canada. Winners will be announced on social media and notified via email after December 10, 2024, at 11:59 PM (EST). Winners must respond to CanSTEAM within three business days. CanSTEAM is not responsible for failure to receive notifications due to spam filters or incorrect contact information. If a winner fails to claim the grant or meet the eligibility requirements, the grant may be forfeited. CanSTEAM reserves the right to disqualify any winner found to be in violation of the official rules.
Rights Granted by You
By entering, you grant CanSTEAM and its representatives the right to use your entry, name, statements, and biographical information for promotional, advertising, and publicity purposes, in perpetuity, without additional compensation or notice, unless prohibited by law.
Terms & Conditions
CanSTEAM reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the campaign if unforeseen circumstances, such as fraud or technical issues, compromise its fairness or integrity. CanSTEAM may select winners from eligible entries submitted before any such action. Additionally, CanSTEAM reserves the right to disqualify anyone who tampers with the entry process or violates these Terms & Conditions. The organization will also ensure the integrity of the campaign, voiding any votes or entries that are fraudulent or otherwise unfair (e.g., using bots or multiple entries from a single IP address).
